In a world where technology is becoming an ever prevalent part of our everyday lives and future, there is a need to equip students with the understanding and skills to become educated 21st Century Learners. Randwick Public School has implemented a number of programs to address these needs, identifying that a range of technologies are integral learning tools required for student growth. By designing, developing and integrating learning technologies on iPads, teachers are able to support high levels of engagement rather than replacing the core skills they teach.
Furthermore, teachers are developing tasks to target the higher-order cognitive skills to extend opportunities for students as well as modifying and redefining learning tasks in order to have a significant impact on student outcomes. This allows students to access information that is relevant, engaging and supportive of their learning.
Current technology and technology programs implemented at Randwick Public School are:
- Coding: Code Camp for Kindergarten to Year 4, Swift Playgrounds for Year 5 and 6, Hour of Code and CS First
- Robotics: Bluebots, Makey Makey, Spheros and Little Bits
- 3D Printers
- Google Suite and Google Classroom: Teaching content is first developed and crafted by teachers to meet the needs of the students. This is then sent to students via Google Classroom and Google Drive, allowing for flexibility in content and feedback.
